Nomads welcome new President David Feeney

Manila Nomads Rugby Club, one of the oldest and most successful rugby clubs in the Philippines, welcomes a new president—David Feeney.

Feeney, who moved to the Philippines in 2009 from the UK, joined Nomads in 2010, captained the club from 2012 to 2014, and started coaching in 2022. This year, his passion for the sport, the club, and its members will reach new heights as he assumes the role of Club President.

Feeney’s leadership will drive the Manila Nomads Rugby Club to thrive and draw new members. His emphasis on inclusivity and sustainability will ensure that the club remains a welcoming and fun place to play rugby for years to come. As a social club dependent on volunteers, Nomads’ success rests on the commitment of its members. Feeney’s approach of empowering leaders in specific roles ensures the club isn’t overly reliant on a few individuals for smooth operation.

In Feeney’s words, “My vision for the club is simple; to make an inclusive club that people want to join. This is done by winning on the field, and more importantly, for a social team, creating a positive atmosphere off it. We want to continue introducing more Filipinos to the game we love while having a place expats can feel at home.”

Nomads Rugby Club is also known for its charitable initiatives. The club has participated in numerous community outreach programs and youth development projects, raising funds for various causes. Feeney intends to sustain these initiatives and leverage the club’s platform to make a positive impact on our community.

David Feeney’s appointment as Nomads Rugby Club’s new president is an exhilarating development for the club and its members. His vision and plans for the future will guarantee Nomads’ continued success as a prominent rugby club in the Philippines. With Feeney’s leadership, the club is poised to attain even more significant accomplishments both on and off the field.
