Nomads Champions
The Manila Nomads Rugby Club has been awarded a grant from the Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) and ChildFund Rugby ( an International NGO that utilizes sport to help develop leadership and life skills in the youth communities) which will enable us to implement a grassroots youth rugby tag program in our host community of Barangay Carmona in Makati City and other barangays and communities in the area.
Our club has always been committed to promoting and teaching the sport of rugby to all, developing players in a positive and inclusive environment while encouraging discipline, commitment, integrity, and honor both on and off the field. With this grant, we will be able to extend this commitment to the youth in our community and provide them with an opportunity to learn and play rugby.

Youth Rugby in Our Community
Through the Nomads Youth Rugby Program (NYRP), we will be able to introduce rugby to the youth in Barangay Carmona, Makati, and other barangays and communities in the area and provide them with a fun and exciting way to stay active, develop their physical abilities, and learn valuable life skills. The program will be implemented as a grassroots youth rugby tag program, which is a non-contact version of rugby that is perfect for beginners. This format of the game is safe and easy to learn, making it a great way to introduce the sport to children who have never played before.
We are grateful to the PRFU and ChildFund Rugby for providing us with the opportunity to implement this program in our community. We believe that this program will not only promote the sport of rugby but also help develop leadership and life skills in the youth communities. Our goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of the young people in our community and we believe that this program is an important step in achieving that goal.
Developing Young Leaders
As part of our commitment to developing the youth in our community through the sport of rugby, the Manila Nomads Rugby Club, with technical support from the PRFU and ChildFund Rugby, offers training to youth interested in becoming coaches under NYRP.
Successful candidates will be trained and certified under the ChildFund Rugby Curriculum which is designed to provide new coaches with all the necessary knowledge and skills needed to be successful in coaching both the sport of rugby and life skills curriculum to young players.
Our training program covers a wide range of topics, including rugby skills and tactics, safety and injury prevention, leadership development, communication skills, and child protection.
Young coaches receive practical, hands-on training from ChildFund Rugby and PRFU Educators, designed to develop their confidence and competence. To achieve certification, they undergo assessments in both rugby session delivery and life skills session delivery.
We believe that coaching is a rewarding experience that can make a positive impact on the lives of young people, and we are committed to providing our coaches with the support they need to be successful. Our coaches have access to ongoing training and development opportunities, as well as the support of our NYRP leadership team.
The “Champions” Rugby Program
As part of our NYRP, our youth coaches will be actively recruiting youth players to become part of our youth teams. Our goal is to provide young people with an opportunity to learn the sport of rugby, develop important life skills, and be part of a supportive and inclusive community.
Our youth teams will have free training sessions once a week, where they will learn the basics of rugby and life skills curriculum under the guidance of our trained youth coaches.
At the end of the coaching sessions, we will be organizing a culminating Tag Rugby Festival for our youth teams to compete. This will be an opportunity for our young players to showcase their skills and sportsmanship, and to celebrate the hard work and dedication they have put into their training.
Our Tag Rugby Festival is not just about competition; it’s also about building friendships and community. We believe that rugby is a sport that brings people together, and we hope that our festival will be a fun and inclusive event that will help strengthen the bonds between our young players and coaches.
We are excited about the potential of our Nomads Youth Rugby Program to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in our community, and we invite anyone interested in joining our program to get in touch with us. Whether you are a parent, coach, or young rugby player, we believe that our program offers a unique opportunity to learn the sport of rugby, develop important life skills, and be part of a supportive community.
